RETREATS

Wrapping Up the 2016 Atlanta Mini Retreat – Thank You to the Atlanta Committee for a Fabulous Event!

For those of you who attended the Atlanta Retreat, it was an amazing couple of days with a wonderful Program on Global Health and impressive speakers all around.  Thank you to the entire Atlanta Committee for their hard work and efforts to make everyone feel so welcome in their hometown.  From the beautiful event at the High Museum, the Program at the CDC to the fun night of Southern BBQ and dancing at Mason Fine, a great time was had by all who were in attendance.

A special thank you to the Atlanta Committee (Vera Arthur, Ceree Eberly, Virginia Hepner, Wonya Lucas, Mary Madden, Hala Moddelmog, Judi North, Mary Ann Peters) and fantastic Co-Chairs  (Martha Brooks, Chris St.Clare and Elizabeth Noe) for all the time they spent making everything run so smoothly.

We couldn’t have done it without our Atlanta sponsors – Kaiser Permanente, Coca-Cola, Synovus, Endochoice and Paul Hastings!

Save the Date Cuba!

Vintage multi-coloured taxis in Cuba

January 26-30, 2017.

17th Annual Belizean Grove Retreat

Registration Deadline for Cuba is Wednesday, October 5th!

Both frozen in time and poised for change, Cuba has intrigued Americans even as they were threatened by it.  On our Grove journey, gain insight on Cuba’s colonial past, the challenges of its economic present and plans of its uncertain future.

Flight Status:  Many have been asking about the flights.  Due to the uncertainty of flying into Havana commercially, we are moving forward with charter flights from Miami to Havana.  The cost is expected to be below $1,000 round trip per person but we won’t have a specific amount until we know exactly how many people sign up.  We are encouraging everyone to travel with the Grove and it is not possible to discount people who decide to travel on their own.  There is only one price this year.  Please remember that Batia is not able to make separate arrangements for you to arrive early or stay late.  She is focused on our group’s activities and doesn’t have time to make alternate arrangements for our members and their guests.

Please join us for a wonderful Cuban Adventure!  Registration closes Wednesday, October 5th  – Click to open the ApplicationDraft Agenda and Informational Sheet.

SUSAN STAUTBERG

The Newport Preservation Society celebrated a major milestone in their history with the official opening of the Berwind-Stautberg Center at The Elms Carriage House, which will be the new home and office space for future Fellows.  Donors, board members and staff were on hand for the ribbon-cutting, and all were “wowed” when they saw how beautiful the interior of the building is now.

Susan also wanted to share an article on female staffers making their voices heard:
