Good day,

We have had an exciting spring at the Belizean Grove offices! Membership committees are beginning to schedule their next committee meetings, we are planning for 3 different Retreats/Mini Retreats, the AFM Board is getting ready to open up the 2017 AFM Grant Cycle, and so much more!

Registration is open for the 2017 Mini Retreat in Santa Fe, be sure to register for the event as soon as possible!  We are excited to announce the location for our 2018 Annual Retreat in Mexico, registration is not yet open, but scroll down below for more details on the location.

Be sure to read all of the information below to stay in touch with everything that is going on with The Belizean Grove.

Playadelcarmenbeach2018 Annual Retreat January 18-22, 2018 MAYAKOBA, MEXICO

Mark your calendars and join us for an amazing trip to Mexico! Registration is not open yet, but will be posted in the upcoming weeks.

We will be staying at the Andaz Mayakoba Resort, booking information will be posted in the upcoming weeks. The Andaz Mayajoba Resort is a wonderful location, 20-30 minutes south of Cancun and just outside of Playa del Carmen. Located in the Mayakoba Resort complex, the resort is surrounded by tranquil lagoons and lush vegetation with nature trails winding throughout. The resort shares a terrific golf course, so you can come in 3 days earlier or stay a few days later to enjoy the course or explore all of the attractions the area has to offer.

WCD members are also encouraged to come in a day early to Mexico City for a WCD Dinner. More details will be shared soon! This trip will be unforgettable with all of the sites, music, food, and more!

We are thrilled to announce that the 2018 Mini Retreat will be in Seattle, September 13-15 with the opportunity for both pre and post trips.  Our Seattle Mini Retreat committee is already hard at work planning the event!  The committee is currently negotiating with hotels in the area, we will release the information as soon as it is confirmed.

We will travel to Chile for our 2019 Annual Retreat.

NEVERVILLE

2017 August Neverville Weekend

Co-founder Edie Weiner has generously agreed to host members at her vacation home in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania referred to as “Neverville.” A few of the slots were already spoken for in Cuba, so register now as space is limited and applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.  This year, Edie has agreed to offer an extra day, so the weekend will extend from Thursday evening, August 3rd through Sunday noon, August 6th.

What the Grovers and Taras Have been Up to Lately…

After working as the Head of Twitter’s Asia Pacific region for 4.5 years, Aliza Knox has now joined Unlockd, a mobile advertising startup, as the Chief Operating Officer!alizaknox_unlockd

Janet Lindner is Yale’s new V.P for HR and Administration. Yale’s President Peter Salovey said, “Janet is well known and well respected throughout the university, and we all are looking forward to working closely with her in her new role.”

Dawn Sweeney, President & CEO of the National Restaurant Association, was recognized as the Association TRENDS 2017 Association Executive of the Year, an award that honors exemplary leadership. With Sweeney as President, the Association’s revenue has doubled from 2007 to 2016, to $102M, and membership has increased by 47 percent.

Hala Moddelmog, President & CEO of Metro Atlanta Chamber, was featured by The Atlanta Business Chronicle discussing Learn4Life, a regional consortium is addressing public education in metro Atlanta. “Learn4Life represents a new data-based approach driven by the engagement of the region’s leaders in business, community and education,” Moddelmog said.

Lauren Herring, CEO of Impact Group, shared her thoughts with Fast Company on how to decide if you’ll be happy moving to a new city for a job, noting that happiness is not location-dependent: “People in California, for example, think they’re happier than people in Cleveland, but generally, they’re not. It really comes down to who you’re spending your time with and what you’re doing with your time.”

2. You wouldn’t be willing to share a room with on a retreat

3. You do not have at least one seconder for

4. You believe is “on the way” but is not quite there yet … save the application for a future time when the candidate would have probably achieved her first success story and her application will have the ‘wow’ effect on first impression.
