Reasons to Travel to Chile

Our exciting Annual Retreat in Santiago, Chile offers stunning scenery, wine, and wonderful outdoor activities as well as fun time with your Grove friends.

Surprising, cosmopolitan, energetic, sophisticated and worldly, Santiago is a city of syncopated cultural currents, expansive museums and top-flight restaurants. Set in the Maipo Valley (framed by the snowy Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west), Santiago captivates visitors with its arresting views, neoclassical architecture and imaginative cuisine.

Santiago’s hit restaurants source fresh, local ingredients. Here, you can savor local specialties like manchas a la parmesana (razor clams layered with cheese and lemon juice) and seafood stews prepared with freshly caught fish from the Pacific. Or you can indulge in meat-centric meals, such as a pastel de choclo (a pie made up of chicken, beef, boiled eggs, olives and corn).

Don’t forget about the wine! Flanked by colonial bodegas, a Pacific breeze and the dazzling backdrop of the Andes, wine never tasted so good! Any trip to Chile is not complete without exploring the aromas and flavors that flow out of the Chilean wine valleys. The Spanish first established the vineyards in Chile back in the mid-16th century, and since then the wine regions have expanded and flourished serving many international markets such as the United States and Europe.

As well as being one of the largest and best wine producers in the world, the wine regions of Chile are some of the most beautiful with such varied landscapes surrounding them.

AFM 2019 Auction

Our Annual Retreat is approaching fast, and we’re about to reach a major milestone: $1,000,000 raised thanks to your generous support for AFM! Since AFM began the auction, we have been able to raise $935,000. The money that has been raised over the years has allowed AFM to continue to help women and girls in need across the globe! AFM funds organizations in the United States, Latin America, South America, and the Caribbean. These are organizations that are close to the hearts of members. The money that has been raised has gone to charities we have worked with in the countries we have visited, as well as your own local charities.

Won’t you make a donation and “take us over $1 million”?

It’s easy. Select something fabulous to donate, complete this quick and easy online form (submit photos and all; you can even click to get a copy of your responses sent to you). That’s it!

You’d rather print, scan and email the form and photos?  Click here.

To focus more fully on the retreat, we will do the majority of our auction online, in our new, user-friendly auction platform. If you still have not made your auction item donation, we have a few more days that we can still accept your items! So please, get them in!

In the next couple weeks, we will announce the details on how you can view and bid on the items. We have already received several exciting donations, including a weekend stay in Palm Beach; a summer weekend in Newport, Rhode Island; a fabulous stay in Napa; a stay at Casa des Artistas in Santa Fe; a week vacation at Lake Blue Ridge in the North Georgia mountains; and so much more!
